Top 7 self-driving technology could do for us in the future pro & cons
1. One of the major parts of self-driving cars would be the economic effect companies will be saving yearly for not having to pay unnecessary drivers to be on the road. Self-driving technology would be able to perform the same task as human driver if not even better. The reason for this is because the vehicles are programed exactly how and when the vehicle start driving and don’t have to be waiting or relying on the drivers for not showing up on time or performing poorly while at work.

Fully self-driving trucks are making there ways fast to us then we are expecting. This is a truck already on the road driving complete autonomously.
2. Self-driving vehicles could be on the road twenty-four seven without any breaks such as human drivers cannot. We all at one point need to stop to get some rest before we could keep on performing properly but that’s not all. Transportation drivers are required by law to pull over and stop working to rest every twelve hours of work for at least eight hours to get proper sleep and be well rested. Which for business it is beneficial for drivers to be well rested because this reduces the risk of drivers getting into accidents which makes the companies loss money. Also, it hurts the business because that means that their products won’t be able to move as fast because of the time requirement they have to obey and that’s when self-driving technology come in to play. Now shipments and orders are not going to be required to be held back because the driver doesn’t have enough log hour to get to the designated area.
3. Another pro of self-driving technology would be reducing tremendously the amount of accidents that occurred on the roads. 90% of the accidents that occur are because of human bad judgment calls. All the sensors that are on all new self-driving cars are meant to be more aware of their surroundings. So, with this technology if the driver forgets to look over when they are going a simple lane change and there’s a car in the way, the vehicle will not the driver do those changes and it will make the driver more aware. For example, when there is a pedestrian the vehicles stopping reactions is much fast them a human’s reaction and which potentially will save serval lives.
4. When it comes down to self-driving vehicles it could be either fuel powered or electric powered vehicles, but with the sensors and computers involved in the vehicle it does take a lot of power to keep it running. That’s one reason why companies are making cars electric but that’s not it. Electric powered cars are not only efficient because of all the technology involved in the vehicle but also for all the smoke it does not releases such as gas-powered vehicle do. If we would be able to go all electric it would not only help people’s health but also it would help mother nature. Every year that passes by our atmosphere keeps on getting thinner and thinner because of the fumes that are going up to the air. If we burn so much fumes up, we have the possibility that we would all go extint because all our oxygen would escape to space.
5. Another pro to have a fully electric self-driving cars would be the maintenance aspect of it. As we all know regular semi-trucks can be a little expensive to keep them running nice and smoothly with all the simple maintenance that must be done such as oil changes, air filters, pressure sensors and complete overhauls. Just a simple overhaul can cost anywhere from $7,000 up to $15,000 but with fully electric trucks that’s not going to be a problem because they don’t as much maintenance as fuel powered trucks do. This aspect of electric vehicles is going to help tremendously the economy for the owners of the trucks.

Individual powered electric engines are going to be powering each wheel unit as shown in the image above. These are tesla prototype to make fully electric semi-trucks.
6. Even though self-driving technology seems good for the environment and our company’s it also has its downside. The reason for this is because there is a little over 3.5 million truck drivers in the united states and if self-driving trucks do come into effect what would happen to all the truck drivers. Yes as you could imagine they would become unemployed which it may not seem like a big deal right now but how would they be able to maintain their families if that’s all they ever known what to do all their life for most of them. This means a lot of less people are going to be out some jobs and our taxes will go up for the rest of us to maintain these people how are disemployed.
7. A con for self-driving cars are also going to be the amount of time it would take them to be fully charged up. Just think about an ordinary phone it takes roughly about 3 to 4 hours to become full charge. Now imagine on a big rig to change them up how long is that going to take. Unlike ordinary trucks that it only takes a cold of minus to fill up a whole diesel tank and then it will be able to be back on the road in no time.
